Briteline Insurance is an independent insurance agency based in Geneva, Illinois serving clients throughout the entire state of Illinois, as well as Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas and Colorado. We provide a complete portfolio of commercial and personal lines insurance options. We are a “one-stop shop” that completely removes the frustrating experience of shopping for insurance by doing it for you.
As the agency principal and founder, Trey Knous leads the team at Briteline Insurance. Trey brings over a decade of insurance experience and prior to founding Briteline, he was one of the top Liberty Mutual agents in the country.
“I get it. Insurance can be boring, frustrating, and time consuming to deal with. My passion is being able to not only save our clients money on their insurance, but more importantly, it’s to break down confusing insurance jargon into simple, everyday terminology so our clients have a better understanding what they are paying for and why.
What makes Briteline Insurance different than most insurance agencies is our approach to coverage and solutions. I got my start working as a claims adjuster, so I know the inner workings of insurance companies. Insurance is what you pay for but when you have a claim, that is where you want your agent to be your advocate.
When our clients have a claim, we review the policy to figure out what happened, when did it happen and how did it happen, and we are combing through the policy looking to find coverage. Claims adjusters are trained and very skilled at finding how NOT to pay claims. We use that skillset in reverse to find coverage for our clients. When I talk to insurance adjusters now on behalf of our clients, I let them know I used to do what they did, and I understand the process. There have been countless times where one of our clients was being denied coverage on a claim and I’ve been able to dig deep into the ambiguity of the policy language and find coverage for them and get their claim covered.”

Nikki Knous our Director of Sales and Service, and Co- Owner of Briteline Insurance, brings over 20 years of customer service expertise to the agency. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children, dog, family and friends. She also has a passion for interior design and enjoys hunting for second-hand furniture at unbeatable prices. Her knack for finding great deals perfectly aligns with her approach to insurance—she loves helping clients secure the best coverage at the lowest possible rates.
As the agency's dedicated trainer, she takes pride in equipping the Briteline Insurance team with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver an exceptional client experience—one built on trust, respect, and honesty. She believes that buying insurance shouldn't feel like just another sales pitch—it should feel like a genuine conversation with someone who truly cares.
